The Twin Cities to do not align to a natural division on the map. Many have tried to unite Minneapolis and St. Paul into one city, and all have failed! In his book, Becoming the Twin Cities: Swindles, Schemes, and Enduring Rivalries, award-winning author Drew M. Ross uncovers the 19th century history of social rivalries, political grudges, and personal ambition that explain how Minneapolis and St. Paul became separate cities with their own distinctive personalities.
Drew M. Ross is a writer, editor, and researcher. For his writing on local history, he won the 2024 Solon J. Buck Award from the Minnesota Historical Society. He currently resides in St. Paul, MN.
