Dakota County Library is inviting residents to celebrate its 50th anniversary at upcoming open houses and other events. Customers can explore the many resources at the Library’s nine locations and experience new technology and services available to library users.
“The Library has grown considerably over the last 50 years, not just in the number of locations but also in the variety of services offered,” said Dakota County Library Director Margaret Stone. “This anniversary is an opportunity to celebrate both the history and the exciting future of the Library. There is something for everyone, so join us and experience everything the Library has to offer.”
Visitors can enjoy music, view a slideshow and share memories of the Library at the following open houses:
• Inver Glen, 8098 Blaine Ave., Inver Grove Heights
Tuesday, April 9, 2–4 p.m.
• Burnhaven, 1101 W. County Road 42, Burnsville
Wednesday, April 10, 3–5 p.m.
• Farmington, 508 Third St., Farmington
Wednesday, April 10, 3–5 p.m.
• Wescott, 1340 Wescott Road, Eagan
Thursday, April 11, 3–8 p.m.
• Wentworth, 199 E. Wentworth Ave., West St. Paul
Thursday, April 18, 4:30–6:30 p.m.
Kids are the focus of the celebration at a Dance Party Jamboree Friday, April 26 from 10:30–11 a.m. at Galaxie Library, 14955 Galaxie Ave., Apple Valley. Young children can dress up in silly clothes and dance to lots of music. Space will be limited to 100 people.
The final event celebrating the Library’s 50th anniversary will be “West St. Paul History with Lois Glewwe” at Wentworth Library, Thursday, May 16 from 6:30–7:30 p.m. Visitors can learn about the fascinating history of the city from Glewwe, a local historian. This event will occur during West St. Paul Days.
