There are programs available to help Dakota County residents who may be facing eviction, due to COVID-19 pandemic hardships.

You may qualify for help if you:
- You are a renter in Minnesota
- You have past due rent or utilities
- You have experienced a COVID-19 hardship or unemployment
- Your household income does not exceed 80 percent of Area Median Income
In order to apply, collect the following information to submit with your application:
- Proof of household income for all adults such as 2020 tax documents (1040, W2, 1099), two months of pay stubs or benefit letters
- Copy of rental agreement or lease or proof of regular payments to landlord
- Landlord's contact information
- Proof of balance owed for rent or utility bills
- Additional information for verification may be needed
The Zero Balance Project: Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Minneapolis and St. Paul
Dakota, Hennepin and Ramsey counties and the cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul are offering another round of rental assistance. In The Zero Balance Project, landlords start the application on behalf of their renters. Renters also directly provide information as part of the process.
Income eligibility
Households must not exceed 80 percent of Area Median Income to be eligible for either program:
- One member: $54,950
- Two members: $62,800
- Three members: $70, 650
- Four members: $78,500
- Five members: $84,800
- Six members: $91,100
- Seven members: $97,350
- Eight members: $103,650
- Nine members: $109,900
- 10 members: $116,200
- 11 members: $122,500
- 12 members: $128,750
